The Wilson Project
Description:
The '22 debut album by a young and talented progressive rock band from Acqui Terme, a municipality located in the northern part of Italy, is released from Ma.Ra.Cash Records. The band's fresh vigor and willingness to express their own unique color, while successfully mastered the so-called "neo-prog rock" sound, is impressive. From the up-tempo number "Non Pensare Vai," which is led by clear synths reminiscent of A Life Long Journey in recent years, to the last song, the title track, which has an adult feeling and leaves the listener with a mysterious aftertaste, there is no time to catch one's breath. The core of the band is undoubtedly keyboardist Andrea Protopapa, who skillfully uses everything from the incendiary Hammond organ to the up-and-down analog synths to the cool piano, and his sense for choosing the right sound for each scene is unmistakable. It would not be an exaggeration to say that their sense of sound selection is as good as that of the bands at the forefront of the scene.Of course, the vocals, which are a narcissistic version of Riccardo Ruggeri's with an added freshness, the guitars, which are moderately hard and add intonation to the ensemble, and the rhythm section, which controls the twists and turns of the music, are also worthy of special mention. This concept work is based on a fictional science fiction-like story inspired by the launch of the spaceship Falcon Heavy. This is a work that can be said to be a major hole in the Italian progressive music scene in 2022, and the band's future activities should be closely watched!
