Hidden away in one of the most inaccessible parts of Hancock Gorge, Karijini National Park, Western Australia, Regan’s pool is a stunning natural amphitheatre with carved into the iron-ore laden earth with a natural fountain tumbling into deep turquoise waters.

Karijini National Park is located approximately 1,500km North-East of Western Australia’s capital city, Perth, centred in the Hammersley Ranges of the remote Pilbara region. With it’s hauntingly rugged red beauty, the park is famous for its sheer gorges, waterfalls and cool swimming holes. Karijini National Park is without a doubt one of the most spectacular national parks in Australia.

Having made the long and exhausting trip to Karijini National Park, via Perth and Paraburdoo the red stained dirt and the banded iron ore formations of the Hammersley Ranges were a sight for sore eyes. The primary objective for the 5 days of shooting that we were in Karijini National Park was to rope into the remote parts of the Gorges via the help of accredited canyoning guides. significant parts of the gorges are inaccessible via foot and require the correct equipment (harness, ropes et al), high levels of roping experience or an accredited canyoning guide. The following few days turned into the photographic adventure of a life time including cliff jumping, abseiling down waterfalls, rock climbing and rock slides. All with our photography equipment.
