About Kimie Miner:

Kimie Miner is a Grammy Nominated Producer, Singer-Songwriter, Recording Artist, Music Publisher and owner of Haku Collective. She champions the idea that one should remain true to who they are and to approach their experiences with the pride of their heritage. Her songs regularly evoke the Hawaiian concept of the Piko: the “naval” or “center” which represents a home base to which one can always return. She notes that “As Hawaiians, we have our roots and our routes. We know who we are, and we take that knowledge with us when we navigate and explore the rest of the world.” 

About Proud as the Sun:

Proud as the Sun, the album, is a cherished memento for Kimie Miner as it was created during a time of transformation for her while she was pregnant with her first child. During this time, her approach to music became a profoundly inward reflection of her core values, intentions and hopes for the future she envisioned for her daughter. It came to no surprise then, that with motherhood on the horizon, the music video for its title track featured the youthful feminine spirit of her nieces with a subtle nod to her pregnancy reveal in its final frame. Of this LP, she shares:

“Proud as the Sun was created as a love song for my daughter and other young women to encourage and empower their journey towards self-discovery. Released by my new company and record label Haku Hawaiʻi, I hope to lay a foundation for aspiring Hawaiian artists to thrive in the future.”
