The Pyramids are perhaps the best jazz comeback of the past 10 years, the group was dormant past the 70s but they came back in 2011 with the independent Otherworldly LP and followed with 3 critically acclaimed albums for Strut.

Out of all those, Shaman! is the best. This one goes deeper into the spiritual jazz experience with quite long extended songs all flowing in a divine soothing groove. Every song feels deep and complex all while remaining relaxing, it's such a pleasant experience listening to this album.

Not to take away from their previous albums which were all very good, but this one takes it a step further and the execution is just so great. There's not a single moment here that feels dated or out of touch, Idris Ackamoor is one of the leaders of the current jazz movement and he sounds good as ever with no signs of slowing down.
