Chopin (1810-1849)

Description:

American pianist Kevin Kenner, the youngest winner of the 10th International Chopin Piano Competition in 1980, and the winner of the 12th International Chopin Piano Competition in 1990 (2nd prize without a 1st prize), is back again on the NIFC (National Institute of Chopin) label. American pianist Kevin Kenner, who won the first prize at the 1990 NIFC (National Institute of Chopin Studies), is back again on the NIFC's own label. The album features two Chopin piano concertos newly arranged by Kevin Kenner himself and composer/cellist Krzysztof Dombek. Chopin often performed his concertos in smaller versions, as all composers/pianists generally did at the time, but unfortunately no piano and string versions by Chopin have survived, so Kevin Kenner and Krzysztof Dombek analyzed various sources and historical documents to find the best possible version. Kevin Kenner and Krzysztof Dombek analyzed and researched various sources and historical documents and restored this "Piano and String Quintet Version". It is composed to be as close to Chopin's original as possible while accommodating a small ensemble. The score was published in 2015 as a National Edition edited by Prof. Jan Ekiel, and has been performed in Japan by Kevin Kenner himself in July 2019 (No. 1) and by Tomasz Littell, winner of the Chopin International Period Instrument Competition, in June 2019 (No. 2). The piece has been performed by.Accompaniment is the young Polish quartet, the Apollon Musergate Quartet (Apollon Musergate String Quartet), which made its name by winning the Munich International Music Competition.
