Matra MS670. 1972. Winner.

The all French Matra Simca team entered Le Mans many times, and this car gave them their first outright win. The MS670 represented the first of 3 outright wins - the MS670B and 670C winning in 1973 and 74 respectively - a French hat trick.

The winning car shown here was driven by Le Mans stalwart Henri Pescarolo - his first outright win. he went on to score 3 more wins - in 73, 74 and 84. His partner for this race was Graham Hill - the victory earning him a unique place in motor racing history. He remains the only driver ever to gain the 'Triple Crown' - victories in the Monaco Grand Prix, The Indy 500 and Le Mans 24 Hours.
