Description:
In the days when the world was exposed to the impact of Corona, the world's best tenor singer spun 27 gem-like songs. Jonas Kaufmann's latest album titled "Selige Stunde Bliss" is also a product of the inner life of an artist who was tossed about by the Corona. The album contains 27 romantic songs, mostly German, and takes its title from Zemlinsky's song of the same name. The album was recorded in mid-April 2020. The world was threatened by the corona virus, and musicians were forced to "stay home" and not give concerts. However, Kaufmann believed that "good things come from bad things! Kaufmann believed that "good things come from bad things!" and took time out of his busy schedule of new productions at major opera houses and concert tours to make this recording, which had been on the back burner. The recording was made at Kaufmann's home in the suburbs of Munich, after the recording studio had been closed down due to the Corona. The warm and cozy space of his home was perfect for the intimacy of these songs, and the recordings convey a sense of familiarity, as if one were in contact with Kaufmann at a home concert.Although Kaufmann's career as an opera singer tends to be highlighted, his debut solo album was a collection of R. Strauss songs, and songwriting has been one of the pillars of his musical activities since his debut, in parallel with opera. His partner in songwriting has remained the same since the beginning, with the renowned Doitsch, his teacher at the Munich College of Music, and the precise musical creation that results from a musical relationship supported by deep mutual sympathy is ideal for songs that are mini-articles in which text and music are highly intertwined. In recent years, with Schubert's "Winterreise" and Wolf's "Italian Lieder," Kaufmann has been exploring the world of song, which is becoming more and more mature. In this album, "Bliss," too, the themes of love, longing, peace, and separation are chosen for each song, although they are all short, and Kaufmann sings each song with great care, highlighting the character of the song. Kaufman's voice has an extremely intimate flavor and will bring peace of mind to all. Sony Music
