Johnny Fritz, who released two albums under the name Johnny Corndog and has a strong fan base here in Japan, made his first visit to Japan in 2014 for a two-man show with the Japanese band D.W. Nichols. He has now completed his first new album in three years, "Sweet Creep," his second under the name Johnny Fritz! Produced by My Morning Jacket frontman Jim James, the new album has been stripped down to the bare essentials, and while it is just as lyrical as the previous album, it is more hopeful. Recorded in three days with Dawes frontman Taylor, drummer Griffin Goldsmith, and Nashville musician Josh Hedley, who are also close personal friends. Rolling Stone magazine gave the album high marks.
