Winter 2024, witnessing the pure, blinding white expanse of the Alps from a distant lodge, punctuated only by the vibrant movement of skiers.

The challenge was to convey both the massive, textured quiet of the snow and the tiny, kinetic energy of the people.

The entire surface was built up using extremely thick, white impasto and texture paste, applied with long, sweeping trowels to mimic the wind-sculpted drifts of fresh powder.

The texture is directional, sloping downward to enhance the feeling of speed.

The colorful skiers were the final element, painted in miniature using highly pigmented oil-a technique demanding a steady, fine brush and just enough color to make the figures pop, transforming the monolithic white slope into a dynamic, human-scale landscape.
