Summer 2024, flying over the vast Sahara Desert. I was mesmerised by the hypnotic, continuous curves of the sand dunes, shaped by millennia of wind.

The technique of preparing the canvas with a uniform layer of wet, heavy impasto and then using a large, custom-cut rake with slightly curved teeth to create one continuous, sweeping stroke across the surface—before quickly repeating the process to achieve that dense, flowing, parallel rhythm—was inspired by the ancient, unbroken language of the desert wind.
