This Caol Ila 2012 is a powerful Blackadder Raw Cask bottling from Islay, distilled on 23 August 2012 and bottled in October 2023 after 11 years of maturation , with a sherry butt finish . Bottled at 58.1% ABV , all-natural, with no chill filtration or added colouring.

On the nose, this whisky combines the characteristic Caol Ila smoke profile with dark sherry influences : ash, campfire smoke, and sea air are beautifully complemented by raisins, cocoa, leather, and candied fruit . The palate is intense and layered, with salty peat smoke, dry sherry notes, spiciness, and a firm wood structure , perfectly supported by the high alcohol content. The finish is long, powerful, and smoky , with a lingering dry sherry note.

With a very limited edition of only 150 bottles , bottled exclusively for The Nectar (Belgium) , this is an expressive and characterful Islay whisky for lovers of smoky whiskies with depth and cask influence .
