Details: This is a wonderfully bold Victorian 15k snake ring, wrapping around the finger three times. The ring features a bright pink/red ruby in the center of the head, diamond eyes and a set of four European-cut graduated diamonds trailing down the neck, settling among the coils to watch over its owner. 

Almost modern in feel and quite clean, this ring symbolize eternity and an unbreakable bond as well as renewal, regeneration and wisdom. The ring sits low on the hand and works well alone or stacked. This ring is in very good condition. 

The wonderful 19th century craze for snake bands was inspired by Queen Victoria's coveted engagement ring, a snake wearing emeralds and diamonds on its head. The fashionable ladies all wanted one! During the complex cultural and social landscape of the Victorian period, symbolism was widely used as a tool to express one’s love and devotion and this is a quintessential example. 

Snakes have had multifaceted symbolic meanings throughout history. The ancient Egyptians had snakes adorning the pharaoh headdresses and buried with their royalty to represent immortality. Snakes were found in Greek mythology where the god of medicine, Asclepius, carries a staff with a serpent entwined to represent healing, wisdom and rejuvenation. During the Victorian era snake motifs symbolized everlasting love.  

Measurements: The ring size is a generous 8.5, weighs 5.9 grams. It is 6mm at the back of the band, 10.5mm at its widest point. The ring is just under 2.5mm" tall.
