Fog Wax Leather
Full-grain cowhide · Mist wax finish · Matte vintage look
Fog Wax Leather is a type of full-grain cowhide treated with a special matte wax finishing process, making it distinct from ordinary leather during the tanning and finishing stages.
Unlike traditional oil-waxed leather, Fog Wax Leather undergoes a unique matte wax treatment during the finishing process, giving the surface a subtle matte appearance and a dry, smooth touch. Over time and with regular use, the wax gradually blends into the leather fibers, allowing the surface to transition from a matte finish to a warm semi-gloss sheen. This natural aging process creates a unique patina, giving the leather more character and depth with use.
Product Features
Full-grain leather
Durable and long-lasting, it will not crack, peel, or deteriorate over time like synthetic leather or split leather.
Vintage Patina
As the wax is gradually rubbed and absorbed into the leather over time, the surface develops varying depths of color and sheen, creating a rich patina effect.
Excellent Edge Finishing
Fog Wax leather has a tight fiber structure and clean-cut edges, making it less likely to fuzz or separate during edge painting. The finished edges appear smooth and rounded.

Excellent Molding Performance
The wax layer on mist wax leather softens when heated or bent, making the leather more pliable and easy to shape. Once cooled, the wax layer solidifies again, helping the material retain its formed structure. It is well-suited for leather goods with three-dimensional structures.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
Does the leather have an odor?
Yes. Mist wax leather has a natural leather scent along with a light wax aroma. It will fade after 1–2 days of ventilation.
-
Will the color differ from the pictures?
Slight color variation is normal for natural leather. Each hide absorbs dye differently, and screen display differences also affect appearance. This is a natural characteristic of genuine leather, not a defect.
-
Can surface scratches be removed?
Yes. Lightly rubbing the scratched area with your fingers or a soft cloth allows body heat to redistribute the wax, helping scratches fade naturally. Deeper marks can be treated with a small amount of leather care oil for assistance.
-
Are natural marks (scars, wrinkles) considered defects?
No. These are natural characteristics of top-grain leather and proof of genuine leather. We carefully select hides to minimize them, but slight natural marks may still exist.
-
Can thickness, size, or color be customized?
Yes. We support bulk customization. Please contact us for details; minimum order quantities apply.
-
How should mist wax leather be maintained?
Avoid long-term sun exposure and high-temperature environments. For daily care, simply wipe with a dry soft cloth. Mist wax leather does not require frequent maintenance; overusing care products may damage the matte finish. For deeper care, apply a thin layer of natural wax balm and avoid silicone-based or oil-based products.
