Recreation Alleys on West 16th Street served as Cheyenne's gathering place through the mid-twentieth century. Wyoming's capital city never had much use for pretense, and neither did this bowling alley. Leagues filled the lanes on weeknights, families on weekends, in a town built on railroads and ranching.
Part of our Retro Bowling collection, featuring the defunct alleys of yesteryear.
The Details:
Flowing white script text reads "Recreation Alleys" above a distressed white illustration of a bowling ball striking pins in a radial burst pattern with motion lines radiating outward. Hand-lettered white text below reads "418 W. 16th ST." and "Cheyenne, Wyo."
