I love American robins. They have a bold, commanding presence in the small bird world.  When they land at my birdbath, usually in boisterous busy groups, their bold red breasts and dark heads are striking as they busily splash around.   I worked on a concept in several of my recent paintings to place my favorite birds in human settings—in this case on top of children’s blocks—in an attempt to create a more intimate connection with the birds I care so much about.
