Spring 2025, inspired by a late-season powder day where the sun-bleached snow formed massive, sculptural ridges.

The essence was capturing the physical enormity of the mountain and the individual journey down it. The vast, textured white space was built up with layers of heavy acrylic gel and titanium white oil paint, applied using broad, curved metal tools to create deep, directional furrows that mimic wind-blown snowdrifts.

The technique for the snow is highly textural, using the medium's density to cast real shadows. The small, brightly colored figures were added last—each a miniature portrait of speed and focused energy, rendered with a single, quick flourish of color to represent the brief, exhilarating passage of human life across the geological stillness.
