9" Dancing Doll Mini Tholu Bommalata Shadow Puppets
9-inch hand-painted tholu bommalata leather shadow puppet sold with or without the wooden and acrylic frame
The puppets have joints at the waist, shoulders, elbows, wrists and ankles, so you can place it in a number of poses. They are flat and translucent, allowing light to shine through and make the colours glow. They are painted on both sides, so you can place them facing either direction.
Being hand painted, this product is unique in itself, and its tiny imperfections are what make it special.

Tholu bommalata literally means "the dance of leather puppets" (tholu – "leather" and bommalata – "puppet dance")
This is a shadow puppet theatre tradition from the state of Andhra Pradesh. This ancient custom, which for centuries before radio, film, and television.
