Block Printed with 212 blocks Kalamkari - Tree of Life - Tapestry / Curtain / Wall Hanging

The Tree of Life, a motif in various mythologies and a metaphor for the common descent of life on earth, created by Pedana artists has given a new lease of life for the India’s textile art form, Kalamkari.

One of its kind wooden block printing to create the ‘Tree of Life’ with natural colours by Mr Srinivas. We have seen the Tree of life motif done on fabric with pen & natural colours. The wooden block makers have painstakingly carved out the Tree of Life motif in with 212 wooden blocks!

Because, the tree of life has many colors - it a long laborious process , as each color needs 24 hours of drying out time

Once printing is done, the fabric is washed in Krishna river. Use of organic dyes - enures its a process that does not harm the ground water or plollute the rivers. This ofcourse makes the process more tedious and It has been an uphill task to keep this craft going.  

This beautiful Tree of Life can be used as curtains, wall hanging or even as a bed spread.

Comes Unframed

However we have trimmed the tapestry in a way that can slide on to rod for you to hang on the wall or as a curtain

Being hand block printed this product is unique in itself, and its tiny imperfections is what makes it special. There could be small bleeds and stains of the veetable dye colors that is inherent to the product.
