The tension setting suspends the diamond between two parts of the band — held in place by the pressure of the metal pressing against its sides, rather than by claws or a metal rim. The effect is striking: the stone appears almost to float, with light able to enter from every angle. The single 5×3mm baguette sits like a clean architectural moment on one side of the band — step-cut for slow, deep flashes of light rather than fireworks, considered and entirely uncluttered.

What is a tension setting? A tension setting holds a diamond in place using the pressure (tension) of the metal pressing against its sides — with no claws, prongs or surrounding rim. The result is a striking modern look, with the diamond appearing to float between two parts of the band and light able to enter from every angle. Tension settings require precision-engineered metal and are extremely secure when properly made.

Is a tension-set diamond safe? Yes. While the diamond looks suspended, the pressure holding it is calibrated precisely by the jeweller — using hardened, work-strengthened metal at the contact points to ensure the stone is held securely. Tension settings are durable and well-suited to daily wear, though we recommend annual inspection (offered as part of our lifetime aftercare) to confirm the tension remains exact.

What is a satin finish? A satin finish is a soft, matte texture applied to the surface of the metal — sitting between high-polish (mirror finish) and brushed (visible texture lines). The result is a quietly luxurious sheen that doesn't reflect sharply, hides everyday scratches better than polished metal, and reads more contemporary and architectural.

What's the difference between satin, brushed and high-polish finishes? High-polish is the brightest and most reflective — a mirror surface. Brushed has visible parallel texture lines, reading more architectural and casual. Satin sits between the two: smooth like polished, but matte and softer in tone. Each gives the same band a different personality.

What is a baguette diamond? A baguette diamond is a long, narrow rectangular step-cut diamond with sharp 90-degree corners. Step-cut faceting creates slow, deep flashes of light rather than the explosive sparkle of brilliant cuts — making baguettes a hallmark of Art Deco design and a beautifully subtle choice for accent diamonds.

Will the satin finish wear off over time? The satin finish is created by abrasive texturing of the metal surface, and over years of daily wear it will gradually smooth out into a softer, more polished look. Can the band be engraved? Yes — internal engraving is offered on every Deltora wedding band. The tension-set diamond is on the exterior; the interior is entirely free for engraving.
