Dzi Beads are ancient beads originating from Tibet. Similar to Etched Carnelian, they are designed by baking natural dyes into agate. It is believed that they were created around the 1st to 6th centuries AD. However, the composition of the dyes used in the baking process remains largely unexplained, adding to their mystery. While primarily found in Tibet, they are also discovered in Bhutan and regions of the Himalayan mountains such as Ladakh. Different patterns baked onto the beads hold various meanings, with the round "eye" patterns being especially prized for their quality. In Tibet, these beads are cherished as "amulets of wealth and prosperity" and are passed down through generations as treasured adornments. In recent years, their popularity has surged in China, where they are known as "Tian Zhu" (Heavenly Beads). Many replicas made using similar techniques also exist, but the ancient Dzi Beads carry a high rarity and value.
