Bactria is a historical region that spanned present-day northeastern Iran, Afghanistan, and Uzbekistan. Due to frequent changes in rulers, it was governed by various dynasties, making its precise origins unclear. However, the Greco-Bactrian Kingdom, established in the 3rd to 2nd century BCE, was known for its thriving commerce and craftsmanship. Bactria was also a key center along the Silk Road trade route. Ancient beads made in the Bactrian region often traveled through the Silk Road, and are frequently excavated in places like Tibet.
