Founded in Switzerland in 1884, Lemania earned a reputation as one of the finest movement manufacturers of the twentieth century. While best known for producing chronograph movements used by brands including Omega and Tissot, Lemania also supplied robust military watches during the Second World War. As one of the twelve makers selected for Britain's famous Dirty Dozen programme, Lemania delivered reliable WWW military watches built to withstand the demands of active service and harsh battlefield conditions.

This Lemania WWW Dirty Dozen is a superb example of one of Britain's most collectible military watches. Produced in 1945 for the British Ministry of Defence, it was manufactured to the demanding W.W.W. (Watch, Wristlet, Waterproof) specification and issued for military service during the closing stages of the Second World War.

Like many military watches that remained in service after the war, this example is fitted with a Ministry of Defence replacement service dial. These post-war non-radium dials were installed during official servicing programmes and are now recognised by collectors as an important part of a watch's military history. Their clean, highly legible appearance reflects the watch's continued service life while preserving its authentic military provenance.

Presented in excellent overall condition, the plating on the case remains particularly strong, compared with some we see which show more brass than plating, and this one also retains clear military markings to the steel caseback including the coveted broad arrow.

The black service dial displays beautifully against the original military layout, while the 36mm case size ensures excellent wearability. Powering the watch is Lemania's dependable calibre 27A manually-wound movement, a robust military workhorse that helped establish the brand's reputation for reliability. As with all our watches, this has been to one of our specialist watchmakers for a complete overhaul of the movement and runs extremely well as you would expect after a recent service (May 2026).
