A Charming and Very Collectable Jaeger Le Coultre Etrier Stirrup Style Dress Watch with Hermès Styling, c.1970s
Founded in 1833 by Antoine LeCoultre in Switzerland’s Vallée de Joux, Jaeger-LeCoultre is one of watchmaking’s true manufacture greats. The maison built its reputation on technical innovation, creating hundreds of in-house calibres and pioneering ultra-thin movements. In 1903, LeCoultre partnered with Parisian watchmaker Edmond Jaeger, formalising the Jaeger-LeCoultre name. Icons such as the Reverso, Polaris and Memovox cemented its status as a cornerstone of high horology.
What's on Offer
A wonderfully elegant Jaeger-LeCoultre Étrier from the 1970s, showcasing the Maison’s more playful side of design. The distinctive stirrup-shaped stainless steel case – famously associated with Hermès styling – gives this piece a sculptural, jewellery-like presence on the wrist, while the slim rectangular profile keeps it refined and wearable.
The brushed grey dial with contrasting Roman numeral chapter ring is beautifully balanced, offering a classic dress-watch aesthetic with a subtle twist. Inside beats the hand-wound Jaeger-LeCoultre Calibre 818/2, a fine, slim movement known for its reliability and smooth winding action.
Presented in excellent overall condition, this Étrier is a charming and slightly unconventional vintage JLC – perfect for those who appreciate design-led horology with genuine heritage and everyday elegance.
