Millefiori, which translates to "a thousand flowers" in Italian, is a decorative glasswork technique that originated in Venice. This method, known for its colorful and intricate designs, gained prominence in the late 1800s to early 1900s. Venetian artisans developed Millefiori glass as a response to the collapse of exclusive trade with the East and the dominance of Bohemian glass in European markets. Traders, who had already been trading beads in Africa, crafted these glass canes into cylindrical beads known as trade beads, which were then traded in African markets. In Africa, these beads are often referred to as "Chachaso."
