Product Description: This is a strand of Etched Carnelian Beads.
Era: 2500 BCE to 1800 BCE
Etched Carnelian beads were created during the Indus Valley Civilization by drawing patterns on carnelian using a liquid called natron, derived from plants, and then baking them at low temperatures of about 300 to 400 degrees Celsius. These beads have been excavated from sites in Mesopotamia and Afghanistan, but it is believed that they were originally made in the Indus River basin and transported via land and sea routes.
