Dzi Beads are ancient beads originating from Tibet. Similar to Etched Carnelian, they are created by baking natural dyes into agate to form intricate patterns. These beads are believed to date back to the 1st to 6th centuries AD. The exact composition of the dyes used remains a mystery, adding to the enigmatic allure of these antique beads. While primarily found in Tibet, Dzi Beads have also been discovered in Bhutan and the Ladakh region of the Himalayas. Each pattern is thought to hold different meanings, with the "eye" motif particularly prized for its association with wealth and prosperity. In Tibet, these beads are cherished as protective talismans and are often passed down through generations. Recently, Dzi Beads have gained popularity in China, where they are known as "Tian Zhu" and are widely replicated. However, authentic ancient Dzi Beads remain highly coveted for their rarity.
