This elegant long dress evokes the sophistication and flair of a golden age of Bohemian fashion. The exotic, swirling floral print exudes vibrant hues of magenta, coral, deep red and lilac-pink, set off with olive green and gold, metallic thread foliage.

Elinor Rizkallah Simmons worked with US based Starr from the early 1960s until 1972. Starr was known for his heavily beaded and embellished gowns, which became a staple of the American country club set. Malcolm Starr was one of the first designers to manufacture clothing in India and China and had boutiques in Hong Kong and Japan, where his fashions were even worn by the royal family.

The fact that the dress retains its original labels, indicates it may have been an unsold or unworn product. This may be due to a design fault in that the zip is very slightly misaligned (see photographs). There is some wear and tear on the neckline and a couple of small pinholes at the front of the skirt, which are virtually unnoticeable unless viewed close up. 

Size: UK Size 12 (suitable for UK sizes 10 and 12).

Composition and care: 92% silk, 8% polyester. Care label reads “Dry Clean Only. Do not use petroleum solvents or the coin operated method of dry cleaning. Press with cool dry iron.”

Condition: Fair vintage condition and priced accordingly.
