About Dzi Beads (Chong Dzi Beads):

Dzi Beads are ancient beads from Tibet, similar to etched carnelian, featuring designs created by baking natural dyes onto agate. These beads are believed to have been crafted between the 1st and 6th centuries AD. However, the exact composition of the dyes used remains a mystery, making Dzi Beads one of the most enigmatic antique beads. While primarily discovered in Tibet, they are also found in Bhutan and the Ladakh region of the Himalayas. Each pattern on a Dzi Bead holds a different meaning, with the circular "eye" designs being particularly prized. In Tibet, Dzi Beads are considered talismans of wealth and prosperity, treasured and passed down through generations. In recent years, they have also gained popularity in China, where they are known as "Tian Zhu" and many replicas are produced using similar techniques. Authentic ancient Dzi Beads, however, remain highly rare and valuable.
