Kiffa Beads date back to the mid-1900s and are named after the city of Kiffa in Mauritania, where they were discovered in 1949 by ethnologist R. Mauny. These beads are made from recycled glass and belong to the category of glass beads known as "tonbo dama." They are created by sintering glass powder into beads with holes, often featuring distinctive vertical stripe patterns and isosceles triangle shapes.
