About the Brand

Coco Chanel founded her namesake brand in 1910 when she opened a hat shop called “Chanel Modes”. Coco expanded her high-fashion product offerings and added sportswear, jewelry, handbags, tweed suits, and her first Haute Couture house. In 1982, Karl Lagerfeld was brought in as Creative Director to revive the brand. He reintroduced the Cruise collection, restored Haute Couture, successfully launched Chanel’s Ready-to-Wear collection, and introduced the now so famous Classic Flap Bag with its instantly recognizable CC logo.
