This 4-CD box set contains the best of Beethoven's piano sonatas, concertos, choral fantasias, and symphonies arranged for solo piano by Liszt, recorded by the virtuoso Idyl Billette between 1986 and 2008. CD1 contains the three major sonatas, and CD2 contains "Waldstein" and two other sonatas. CD3 contains the Piano Concerto No. 5 and Choral Fantasy with Antoni Vito as backing, and CD4 contains Billet's specialty, the 5th symphony arranged by Liszt, and the last movement of No. 9, in which all singing parts are replaced by piano. Billette's unique interpretations and superb performances of Beethoven's works, which occupy a special place in his long performance career, are sure to be enjoyed to the fullest. Naxos Japan
