Description:
Rusalka" is a lyrical and dynamic piece by Ticciati. Rusalka, a water nymph, falls in love with a human prince and is transformed into human form by the magician Yezibaba, but she has to offer her voice in return. The two fall in love, but on their wedding day, the prince unexpectedly falls in love with a foreign princess, Dvořák's beautiful, richly melodic and rhythmic music is lyrical and dynamic at times, and is performed by a full complement of singers and dancers. Sally Matthews' poignant singing as Rusalka is particularly impressive. The stage design, direction, and choreography by British stage director Mary Still adds a stimulating, otherworldly color to the tragic love story of the water nymphs. Naxos Japan
