Era: 2500 BCE - 1800 BCE
The Etched Carnelian originates from the Indus Valley Civilization. Patterns were drawn on the carnelian beads using natron derived from plants and then baked at low temperatures of approximately 300 to 400 degrees Celsius. These beads have also been excavated from Mesopotamian and Afghan ruins, but it is believed that they were created in the Indus River region and transported via land and sea routes.
