Product Description: This is a strand of Etched Carnelian Beads.
Era: 2500 BCE to 1800 BCE
These beads originate from the Indus Valley Civilization. Patterns were etched onto carnelian beads using a solution derived from plants, then fired at low temperatures of around 300 to 400 degrees Celsius. While such beads have been excavated from sites in Mesopotamia and Afghanistan, they are believed to have been produced in the Indus River region and transported via land and sea routes.
